"WELCOME TO NORWAY" VIDEO MAGAZINE
"Welcome to Norway" is a video magazine program produced in
cooperation with NRK, the Norwegian Broadcasting Co. It is based
on "Norge rundt (Around Norway)," NRK's longtime and ever popular
weekly TV magazine program. Each video is approximately an hour
long and consists of about ten short segments from the "Norge
rundt" program. The segments are in Norwegian, but they have
subtitles in English. Because the segments present stories from
different parts of Norway, viewers have the opportunity to hear
a variety of spoken dialects. There are two Norwegian hosts for
the videos, and they introduce each segment in English and host
a short "mailbox" segment" in which they read and respond to some
of the letters from viewers. In the most recent video, the
segments were:
1. Climbing at Sea; 2. Play School Evacuation - Telemark;
3. Water Mill - Trøndelag 4. Female Officer - Bergen;
5. Fundraising - Ulsteinvik 6. Sandefjord Girls Choir
7. Confirmant - Rugsund 8. Waffle maker - Oestfold
9. Backpack 10. Mailbox
11. 17th of May
Welcome to Norway is organized just like a book club. The yearly
subscription is $149.50 for 10 videos which come every month
except July and August. For more information, contact the US
office or the head office in Norway. Please mention that you
are a NorWord subscriber.
