TOURING OSLO (Mange takk for words from Richard):
Get a day pass to cover buses, boats and the T-bane! Get a free tourist map that will give you all the available routes.
Plan ahead.
One BIG excursion might include getting out at The Storting and walking along Carl Johann, past the Law School and decide
whether you want to "do" the big museum, past the Nat. Theatre and then maybe "do" the Palace, back towards the harbour and
into Aker Brygge via the west entrance. Bryggetorget for its modern architecture and then along the harbour towards the Rådhus
(Rådhus is great inside and has a wonderful clock).
Lots of restaurants, a McDonalds, and some bars on the way....some quality shops in Aker Brygge.
There's a War Museum in the Castle or you could walk into the "Old Town", or go back up Rosenkrantzgt, past the Storting
and the Grand to the Bonderheimen Hotel. (Have lunch there for traditional Norwegian food). After lunch, the metro or bus to
Grønland and a short walk to the Munch museum and then, on a good day, an hour or so in the Botanical Garden just across the way.
That should tire you out! "No one" can go to Oslo without going to the Frogner Park and the Vigeland sculptures
.....walk the length to the monolith. Go up to Sagnsvann.....if you like a walk through the woods and beside the lake.
A boat trip from Aker Brygge by the new Peace Prize building. Bygdøy and the Kon-Tiki, the Stave church and the viking ship.
At the top of the Radisson by the Palace.....is a bar with fantastic views. ..........for a shorter walk...get out at Tøyen! There is a sign
to the Munch Museum and the Gardens are across the road. Tøyen (and Grønland) have become increasingly trendy in recent years
...beer is cheaper than in most parts of Oslo and there are plenty of restaurants that serve relatively cheap (for Oslo), food.

in Oslo the statues are at: VIGELANDSPARKEN -
http://www.museumsnett.no/vigelandmuseet/2parken/2b_historikk/engelsk/2bframeset.html
Try the trip up, the view, and the apple cake at Frognerseter (the end of t-bana line #1, North West of downtown).
If you are into art, of course there's the Munch museum, many others are worthwhile:
http://www.oslosurf.com/innhold/00000230.shtml
Hit a few at once on Bygdøy -- Norsk Folkemuseum, Fram, Kon-tiki.
You can plan to spend all 5 of your 2 days here (ha ha).
Or just hang out at Aker brygge -- buy some fresh shrimp and watch the tourists.
Bring a couple of kroner (a few thousand?) for the day / stay. Take a ferry boat to Nesodden.
Oh yes, I forgot about Språkrådet! http://sprakrad.no/Toppmeny/Om-oss/
-- I don't think there is much to see there, but who knows.

My favorite bookstores -- Norli and Akademika on the main U i O campus (Blindern)
Lykke til, Richard
