Pierre's verb of the week

si (written by Louis Janus)_

Hei igjen!

A common verb, maybe one of the most common verbs used by beginners is å si. It is slightly irregular (adds -er in the presen tense).

å si = to say (infinitive form)

jeg sier = I say (present tense)

jeg sa = I said (past tense)

jeg har sagt = I have said (past participle)

"jeg" is a pronoun meaning "I".

Her er noen setninger om "å si ".

Kan du si det litt langsommere? (Can you say it a little more slowly?)

Han sier at han er fra Belgia. (He says he's from Belgium.)

Hva sa du? Jeg hørte ikke. (What did you say? I didn't hear it.)

Som sagt, så gjort. (Literally: "So said, thus done" "No sooner said than done")

Idioms:

å si opp "to quit, to fire"

å si fra "to announce, say plainly"

Det sier seg selv ... selvsagt "It is apparent, true. Of course"
